Idiocracy

It'll be here sooner than you think. From the Dallas Morning News' blog comes the following story:

A special meeting about Dallas County traffic tickets turned tense and bizarre this afternoon.

County commissioners were discussing problems with the central collections office that is used to process traffic ticket payments and handle other paperwork normally done by the JP Courts.

Commissioner Kenneth Mayfield, who is white, said it seemed that central collections "has become a black hole" because paperwork reportedly has become lost in the office.

Commissioner John Wiley Price, who is black, interrupted him with a loud "Excuse me!" He then corrected his colleague, saying the office has become a "white hole."

That prompted Judge Thomas Jones, who is black, to demand an apology from Mayfield for his racially insensitive analogy.

I think we should all be thankful that Mayfield didn't use the term "white dwarf".

I'm a little stunned by this. Here again the weakness of a democracy is exposed. Maybe he should have split the difference and called it a "brown hole".

Wow, now that I type that... it's really unpleasant.

Tommy?

I think folks from the Pacific Northwest and from McKinney wouldn't understand this. You guys probably go outside at night and see stars. These guys are from Dallas, they forgot what a star was long ago, way too much ambient light. And don't get me started on Dallas schools, lets just say Astrophysics doesn't come up much.
