Hypersonic Magma

And so it begins. I don't think it's too late to develop some sort of action plan to ensure that the Yoshimitsu blog survives the coming catastrophe. In retrospect, maybe Seattle wasn't such a great idea after all. And Kendall and I being in the same geographic area is a big no-no. One of us is going to have to move to Tibet. And none of us should ever be on the same airplane flight. Or have lunch in the same Indian restaurant.

I have this to say about that....
According to the needlessly long made-for-TV-movie last year about this very topic, Seattle comes out OK. As in, the jet stream helps us out, and the Cascade Range blocks the ash fallout. So when this thing blows, Seattle will be the spot to die of starvation. Probably the blast will kick off the fault line anyway, but at least we'll have a chance to linger in the dark under rubble for a while.

This is why we need to establish a moon base. That's the only safe place for our blog data. The DNA of every creature Noah could catch should be up there, as well as our blog and perhaps some other stuff. We can back-populate the Earth later.

Also, I'm fairly certain the Islamo-fascists will not be able to car-bomb the moon. Their methods are not that scaleable. So we should be safe that way as well.

Well, I hope the jet stream can deflect millions of tons of molten rock moving at about mach 5. The moon base sounds like a reasonable backup plan, though.

Now that I think about it, given the quality info on this blog, we need to start looking at some seriously long-term data storage options. The moon if fine until the sun goes nova, but then what do we do? I think we should look into creating a new universe (via a black hole, perhaps) that has the blog contents encoded in its physical constants. If we wan't to get really fancy, the new universe should have inital conditions such that it is guaranteed to produce inhabitants that will eventually develop the technology to create their own universes. These inhabitants will need to create universes with the same constants as the one they evolved in, if they are to inhabit them. Thus our blog info will live on as our progeny continue to spawn new universes for energy, resources, data storage, etc. It will be fun to watch them when they develop computers and start to calculate pi. They'll be saying stuff like, "We decoded pi to a billion places, and we keep finding hidden messages about something called the Spanish Armada!"

That is quite a segue.

Strangely enough I had tossed around the idea of creating my own universe. Then I thought, "Hey, this is our blog I'm talking about, I need to think bigger."
