Superbowl Extra-Lethargic

Guys,
I have to mention this. Have you noticed that the Seahawks are in Superbowl XL? I know that this is a daily occurrence in Dallas, but here it is a big deal. After 30 years of sucking, something is afoot. Everywhere you go here in Seattle, the excitement for this event is almost palpable. And when I write almost, I mean almost not like "Geez, I can't believe I almost ate that whole pizza myself!" but almost like, "Oh yeah, I almost won the lottery."
In otherwords, it's really not as impressive as one would expect. At work they announced a corporate tail gate party on Friday, but I'm not hearing much interest. By this point, I'm pretty sure everyone knows the Seahawks are 1) the football team and 2) in some sort of big competition.
It's really quite pathetic even by my standards. Don't tell anyone, but I would kind of feel bad if we beat the Steelers since it appears that they are sweating and bleeding their team colors. They are even named after a local key industry. Would it be like if our team were the Seattle Operating Systems, or the Seattle Double Lattes - extra hot!?
I dunno. Maybe it's just me. We'll see what happens.

Movie Review: The Island

The movie starts in humanity's last remaining refuge after some sort of vague calamity has left the Earth "contaminated" . The society is filled with mostly good-looking survivors (dressed in white) overseen by a humorless and slightly less good-looking security force (dressed in black). Our hero, Lincoln Echo Six, is becoming increasingly uncomfortable in his Orwellian life, hoping that one day he will win the lottery and be allowed to emigrate to "the Island", the only habitable part of Earth left. In the mean time he keeps himself busy with strange dreams, a regimented diet, a repetative job, and an asexual relationship with his friend Jordan Two Delta.

When Jordan wins the Island lottery, Lincoln soon discovers the truth about his home. He and the others are actually clones grown to provide organs for their wealthy 'hosts'. Lincoln and Jordan soon escape and find themselves in the New Mexico desert, running from a team of mercenaries in a world they don't understand.

Overall, this is a surprisingly good action movie. The cloning is standard movie 'let's make a full grown clone' stuff, but it makes sense in this context, except for the part where they grow the clone to nearly the same age as the 'host'. I mean, if you're sixty and want a new liver, wouldn't you want the liver of a twenty year-old instead of a sixty year-old. The head honcho of the cloning company is the stereotypical Hollywood villain, a combo mad scientist/heartless businessman that seems popular these days. The movie also has some great chases and action scenes.

Rating: 5 stars - 1 star (no Salma Hayek) - 1/2 star (stereotypical villain) = 3.5 stars.

How stupid is this?

It's a good thing to keep a camera with you at the office. You never know when you will find something this stupid.

Friday's deal o' the day

Today's deal is one that even Mike can afford. It's useful and promotes the oh-so-important creative process. I'm certain that Yoshi would approve.

It's free online graph/grid paper pdfs in a plethora of styles. As a bonus, you can get some royalty-free music for those DIY projects around the house.

This is the kind of stuff I know I could produce if I didn't have a job taking up all my time. Stupid job.

The many faces of Yoshi

WARNING: potentially controversial topic!

Isn't this the Yoshimitsu that we know and love to fear? What happened? Was there an accident or is this something like what happened with the Klingons between the '60's & late '80's?

Something to feed your existential angst

Ok, well this link isn't really so funny, but it's interesting.
Robert Wright interviewing a physicist priest.
I just stumbled across this link and it turns out that Robert Wright is one of my favorite guys. I read his book, The Moral Animal, almost twice. (I have a short memory, so it took me almost a second reading to realize I had already read it.) Anyway, he's writing about evolutionary psychology and I don't care if it's a fad or not. To me it explains a lot of stuff.

Just a little something when you are in the "oh, what's the point really?" mood.

Drunken Jedi video?

I can't believe the internet was keeping this from me all this time. Did you guys know about the StarWars kid? I forget a lot of stuff, but I would not have forgotten this. Oh well, it's a few years old now, but certainly worth it.

Just Checking ...

Just making sure everything still works. I hope everyone likes the profile picture. I think we need a good font for the title. I'm thinking something gothic.

The Man(?) Who Made it All Possible

Found: Manuscript outline

While waiting for the USS Titanium (TI), we are ordered to mine the rest of the asteroid away, and to also take a vacation. This is where Larcos goes to rigel 7 and discovers several things:
1) he’s a clone
2) the clones are all gay
3) determined to not be gay, he has a relationship with one of the atomic squid whores.

Just a little something I found on the old hard drive. I can't believe I quit working on the Larcos Trilogy! If either of you guys want to take it from here ...

I love my job

How 'bout you?

My First Post

Test post from the Long Arm of Yoshimitsu. For being so good, here is a game!

Register you names with google

Guys,
I think you need to have a google login so I can "add" you to the blog as administrators.
Then you can tweak the Html etc.
Maybe we can divide the blog into three main sections:
  • Nazi trinkets
  • Black holes
  • Armadas: gay or not?

Just a suggestion.

Yoshimitsu lives!

Clearly there is not enough baseless opinion expressed on the internet. This blog will remedy that. With a readership potential of double digits (in binary), the internet will never be the same.
